What is the story about?
The release date of Jana Nayagan is coming close and all eyes are not only on Thalapathy Vijay's final film but also on whether the actor-turned-politician
will actively participate in its promotions. With Vijay now becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, questions have emerged about how his constitutional responsibilities could change promotional events, premieres and fan interactions. Addressing the speculation, producer Venkat K Narayana has revealed that no final decision has been taken yet. He explained that Vijay's new role demands careful consideration before any promotional plans are confirmed ahead of the film's theatrical release.
Jana Nayagan producer on Vijay's involvement in promotions
Speaking to NDTV, KVN Productions' Venkat K Narayana addressed the possibility of Vijay promoting Jana Nayagan, which is slated to release in Indian theatres on July 23 before opening overseas a day later. When asked whether Vijay would attend premieres, promotional events or meet fans despite now serving as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, the producer said the matter was still under discussion.
According to Narayana, Vijay's constitutional responsibilities and the protocols associated with his office mean he may not be able to participate in promotional activities the way he did during his acting career. He explained that while films remain close to Vijay's heart, the people now come first.
The producer praised Vijay for choosing public service at the peak of his film career rather than after retirement, noting that he had been among the highest-paid actors in the country when he decided to enter politics. He added that Vijay had always maintained that people supported him throughout his career, and he now wanted to dedicate himself to serving them. Because of those responsibilities, Narayana said the team is still deliberating on the extent to which celebrations, premieres and promotional events can be organised before taking a final decision.
