clarified that he never wished to cause pain with his statement. Recently, when Times Now Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar interacted withShekhar Kapur, he reacted to the composer's remark. In an exclusive conversation, the senior filmmaker revealed that he has never noticed any divide in Bollywood. Other than this, the director shared his thoughts on how artificial intelligence (AI) will affect filmmaking and storytelling.
Shekhar Kapur on AR Rahman's communal bias remark
Speaking exclusively to Times Now Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, Shekhar Kapur emphasised on the difference between faith and religion. He mentioned that they are two different things while referring to AR Rahman's communal bias statement.

"Faith ultimately is common. Faith is hope. Faith is that I hope the rains will come. Now, if you are Muslim, you will pray to a different God. If you are Hindu, you pray. But both are praying for ki yaar barsaat aayegi toh meri khed chalegi," he said. When the senior filmmaker was asked if there are divides in the industry, he admitted, "I have never noticed it. I don't even know. I have never realised. I don't think about it."
The senior filmmaker further added, "Vo saamne aata nahi hai ki Aamir Khan Muslim hai, ek actor hai, vo bohot bada star hai. Ya Salman Khan Muslim hai, ya actor hai, ya Shah Rukh Muslim hai... toh namaz bhi padta hai. He is married to... we don't think about that." Summing up his take, Kapur mentioned that when one thinks creatively, they become a part of the same mould.
What was AR Rahman's communal remark?
Earlier, in an interview with BBC Asia Network, AR Rahman spoke about the prejudice in the Hindi film industry. He added that people, who are 'not creative', have the power to decide things. The music compose also felt, "And this might have been a communal thing also, but not in my face."
