Fans eagerly awaiting the trailer for Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana were left disappointed after the makers announced, just hours before its scheduled unveiling.
However, the film's lead cast continued to build excitement around the ambitious project. Yash, who is set to make his Hindi film debut as Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, joined Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Lord Rama, at the film's panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday. Ahead of the event, Yash spoke to a YouTube channel about his character, the challenges of playing Ravana, and balancing the role with his responsibilities as one of the film's producers.

Speaking to the YouTube channel Rama's Screen, Yash was asked about the biggest challenge of bringing Ravana to life on screen. He said that while it was a pleasure to play the character, the biggest challenge lay in portraying a role that audiences already know so well. Yash said Ramayana has been retold in countless ways through stage plays, television shows and films across different Indian languages. He said to present Ravana he has tried something different, "To play it in a unique way and still make it look authentic, this was a challenging part, and I think I have tried something which might be very exciting for me."
Yash was also asked about balancing his dual responsibilities as both an actor and producer on the film. Responding to the question, he said his vision was always to bring meaningful stories to audiences on the grandest possible scale. He also said that producer Namit Malhotra shares the same vision and believes Indian cinema has evolved tremendously over the years. He further said "But globally our filmmakers need to tell stories in the largest possible way. So that's why I think every actor who has come to be a part of this movie has come with one vision, it is to put our talent in the best possible way."
About Ramayana Part 1
Conceived as a two-part adaptation of the Indian epic, Ramayana also features Sai Pallavi as Sita. The star-studded cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic is produced by Namit Malhotra under the Prime Focus Studios banner in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide IMAX release during Diwali 2026, with the second and final chapter set to arrive in Diwali 2027.
