Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s duo is back and how. Bhooth Bangla, their latest collaboration after 15 years, has been accepted by the audience. Despite
sharing screens with Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar 2, the film is giving tough competition by drawing a family audience to cinema halls. According to a trade portal, Bhooth Bangla is closer to the Rs 100 crore milestone worldwide. On Sunday, the film saw a massive surge at the Indian box office and this growth took the total worldwide collection to Rs 95 crore. The horror comedy released on April 17.

As per Sacnilk’s report, Bhooth Bangla earned Rs 23 crore on Sunday at the Indian box office. In just four days, the horror comedy has collected Rs 58 crore net and Rs 69.37 crore gross in India. Its total worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 95.87 crore after Sunday.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan's past box office performance
Akshay’s previous film, Jolly LLB 3, was also a successful venture at the box office. If Bhooth Bangla continues its smooth run, it could surpass the courtroom drama’s worldwide gross of Rs 171.64 crore and India net collection of Rs 117.50 crore. On the other hand, Priyadarshan’s last theatrical film, Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea, underperformed. Mounted on a budget of Rs 80 to Rs 100 crore, its box office collection failed to touch the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide.
About Bhooth Bangla
Bhooth Bangla is set in the ghostly and quiet town of Mangalpur. Young brides and couples are prohibited from passing through, fearing mishaps and incidents of kidnapping and sudden deaths. Its resident demon Vadhusur is to be blamed. Despite being warned against getting his sister married in Mangalpur, Arjun Acharya challenges the demon. Later, when his father, Dr Vasudev Acharya (Jisshu Sengupta), a scholar of the Vedas and Hindu scriptures, reveals Vadhusur’s identity, Arjun has to protect his family from the unforeseen.
Bhooth Bangla also stars Tabu as Vasudha. Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajesh Sharma and Mithila Palkar feature in pivotal roles. Reportedly, the film is mounted on a lavish budget of Rs 120 crore. According to various reports, Akshay has taken a significant 28.5% pay cut for the film. Still the highest-paid cast member, he has reportedly taken Rs 50 crore as a fee along with a 70 per cent share in profits as co-producer.
