What is the story about?
Thalapathy Vijay is on the verge of creating history in Tamil Nadu. The election results for the 2026 Assembly elections are being counted and the numbers
are shocking everyone. Thalapathy Vijay, the actor turned politician, is on course for one of the most stunning political debuts in Indian history. His party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is leading in a massive number of seats. Back home, his family and supporters cannot contain their excitement. Celebrations have broken out with dancing and loud Whistle Podu chants, the iconic fan tradition that has followed Vijay from cinema screens to now the political arena.
Celebrations At Thalapathy Vijay's House
As the counting trends poured in through the morning, Vijay's residence turned into a celebration zone. Family members gathered to watch the results unfold. The mood was electric and emotional at the same time. In a couple of videos going viral on social media, Vijay's family members can be seen breaking into whistle podu celebrations and dancing their hearts out as they celebrate his potential victory.

Supporters outside broke into spontaneous celebrations the moment early leads for TVK started coming in. The iconic Whistle Podu, long associated with Vijay's blockbuster film releases, was heard loud and clear as people danced in the streets.
The celebrations were deeply personal for the Vijay household. Just weeks ago, his final film Jana Nayagan* was stuck in censor trouble. Today, the man himself is on the verge of becoming one of the most powerful political figures in Tamil Nadu. The contrast could not be more dramatic.
Vijay Heads Towards Record Win In Tamil Nadu Elections 2026
The numbers coming in are truly extraordinary. Vijay's TVK is leading in 108 of the state's 234 constituencies, emerging ahead of both Dravidian heavyweights DMK and AIADMK. The majority mark stands at 118 seats. No one had predicted this scale of victory before polling day.
Vijay is contesting from two high-profile constituencies, Perambur and Tiruchirapalli, and is leading in key rounds of counting in both seats. Winning even one of these would be a significant personal milestone for the first-time politician.
TVK candidates are also ahead in several Chennai-region seats that have long been considered DMK strongholds. The party is leading in constituencies such as Ponneri, Tiruvallur, Poonamallee, and Avadi.
If the trends hold, Vijay could pull off one of the biggest electoral upsets in Tamil Nadu history, echoing the landmark victories of 1967 and 1977 that he repeatedly referenced during his campaign.
