What is the story about?
Ram Charan's Peddi has crossed the Rs 90 crore mark at the box office in two days. After a thunderous opening, the film continued its positive run on Day
2. While a drop in numbers from Day 1 was expected, as is typical for any film after its opening day, Peddi held on well enough to push its total India net collection close to the Rs 100 crore mark. Here is the breakdown.
Peddi Day 2 Box Office Report
Peddi added Rs 22.77 crore and counting on Day 2 at the time of writing, taking the running India net total to Rs 92.27 crore. This includes Rs 18.50 crore from Day 0 paid previews and Rs 51 crore from Day 1. The film is now just a whisker away from crossing the Rs 100 crore India net milestone.
Peddi Box Office Collection Day-Wise Breakdown -
Day 0 - Rs 18.50 Crore
Day 1 - Rs 51.00 Crore
Day 2 - Rs 22.77 Crore And Counting
Running Total - Rs 92.27 Crore
A Day 2 dip is standard for big releases, especially those that open with massive paid previews and opening day numbers. What matters is whether the film holds up over the weekend, and early signs are encouraging. Advance bookings for Day 3, Saturday, have already crossed Rs 13.87 crore gross with over 5 lakh tickets booked across 9,857 shows in 967 cities.
Peddi's Weekend Now Key To Its Box Office Journey
The weekend, Day 3 and Day 4, will now be crucial. A strong Saturday and Sunday could push Peddi well past Rs 150 crore India net by the end of its first weekend, which would set it up for a very healthy first week run. All eyes are now on whether the film can sustain this momentum and go on to become Ram Charan's biggest solo blockbuster.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh and tells the story of a spirited daily wage labourer from a nameless village who unites his community through sports to fight for recognition. The village has no official status, no voting rights, and no railway station and one man's determination to change that drives the heart of the film. Ram Charan plays the lead role, with Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani, and Ravi Kishan, with music by AR Rahman.
