What is the story about?
Ram Charan’s Peddi is off to a promising start at the box office, with advance bookings which indicates a positive sign ahead of its theatrical release.
The sports action drama has managed to build momentum both in India and overseas markets, setting the stage for a potentially strong opening day. However, despite the encouraging numbers, the film still faces a crucial challenge in Telangana, where ticket sales have yet to fully take off due to pending approvals. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film will see Ram Charan in a sports drama that deals with identity and empowerment.
Peddi Advance Booking: Ram Charan Starrer Off to Slow Start, Trails Game Changer
According to trade reports, Peddi has collected approximately Rs 5.39 crore in India advance bookings for its opening day, excluding blocked seats. The Telugu version has contributed the majority of this figure, while Tamil and Hindi versions have shown comparatively modest responses. As of the latest update, over 22,000 tickets have been sold across more than 2,400 shows in the Telugu market alone.
That said, Peddi still has some ground to cover before matching the pre-release momentum of Ram Charan’s last outing, Game Changer, which collected around Rs 26 crore in advance bookings ahead of its theatrical release.
Game Changer was released on 10 January 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival which gave the film a boost due to the festive season. The film received mixed reviews from critics. Despite a strong opening day collection, it emerged as Shankar’s second major box office failure, following Indian 2 (2024).
Telangana Crucial For Peddi
Internationally, Peddi has performed significantly better. The film’s global advance bookings have crossed Rs 12 crore, driven by strong demand in North America. Peddi’s premiere advance sales in the United States were nearing the USD 800,000 mark, with the real-time gross standing at approximately USD 797,000 (around Rs 7.58 crore). Overall advance sales across North America had crossed USD 882,000 (roughly Rs 8.39 crore) as of Tuesday morning.
One of the key factors affecting Peddi’s final advance booking numbers is the delay in Telangana ticket sales. Reports suggest that pending government approvals related to ticket pricing and paid premieres have slowed down bookings in the state. It is believe that once Telangana bookings open fully, Peddi could see a jump in its pre-release numbers.
The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, co-produced by Ishan Saksena under IVY Entertainment, and presented by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Sukumar Writings. The film also features Janhvi Kapoor, Shivarajkumar, and Jagapathi Babu, Peddi is slated to release on June 4 with paid premieres scheduled a day earlier.
