Meet Peddi Raju who inspired Ram Charan's character in Peddi
In an interview with M9, Buchi Babu Sana said Peddi Raju was a daily wage labourer, who was fantastic at sports such as cricket and basketball. He would play regularly during free periods. According to the director, he could play sports to help teams win matches almost single-handedly. So much so that locals would stop him from going to work as they wanted him to play for their teams. In fact, the young labourer would be paid handsomely for displaying his talent on the field.
Buchi Babu Sana further shared that whenever he saw Peddi Raju, he could see a cinematic story and journey to share. While he was into cricket and basketball, the film’s character is a wrestler. His love story with Janhvi Kapoor’s Achiyamma is also a part of the cinematic projection.
