Icon star Allu Arjun’s first collaboration with Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been officially announced, creating one of the most eagerly awaited
partnerships in South Indian cinema. The project, currently titled AA 23, was unveiled on the festival of Sankranti (particularly) Bhogi (January 14), sparking excitement among fans who had been waiting for official confirmation since months. The announcement came from producers Mythri Movie Makers, who released a special video carrying the tagline “Strive for greatness,” hinting at the grand scale of the film. The video also confirmed thatAnirudh Ravichander, a frequent collaborator of Lokesh Kanagaraj, will compose the music for the project.

The teaser video depicts a man riding a horse through a dense jungle, with lions and wolves appearing to bow to his presence. Sharing the video, Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote, “Blessed with the best @alluarjun #AALoki. Looking forward to kicking off this journey with you, sir. Let’s make it a massive blast. AA 23 adds to Allu Arjun’s already busy slate. He is also working with director Atlee on another high-budget project. Following the phenomenal success of his Pushpa franchise, particularly Pushpa 2: The Rule, which became a pan-India blockbuster, expectations for his upcoming films are extremely high.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is known for his gripping storytelling and commercial appeal, delivering films led by stars like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. His recent directorial, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, performed well at the box office despite mixed reviews. He is also preparing for his acting debut in DC.
While production details, including the full cast and shooting schedule, are yet to be revealed, this collaboration is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films of 2026.
