Rishab Shetty's latest film Kantara: Chapter 1, which is the prequel to the 2022 film Kantara released in cinemas on October 2 amidst much anticipation.
Upon release, the film opened to largely positive reviews, with critics and audiences hailing the film's story and Rishab Shetty's performance. Today, on 10th October, the makers have announced that the film has earned Rs 509 crores in its first week.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, the multilingual release has completed a week since its debut. Taking to social media, the makers have announced the news on their social media handle. Originally made in Kannada, Kantara Chapter 1 is one of the rare Pan-Indian films to find success across languages. The Hindi version crossed Rs 100 crore net domestically on 9th Wednesday. The Telugu version has also fared well with over Rs 60 crore in net collections so far, while both the Malayalam and Tamil dubs have also earned over Rs 20 crore each.
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in pivotal roles. A third film - Kantara Chapter 2 - has been announced.

In IMDb’s latest weekly rankings, Rishab Shetty has made an impressive jump from 75th to 3rd place, while his co-star Rukmini Vasanth has moved from 37th to 5th. Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah, who plays a negative role in the film, has climbed from 213th to 22nd. Apart from the performances, the film has been been widely praised for its visuals by cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and its evocative background score by B Ajaneesh Loknath.
