CinemaCon 2026 gave some of the biggest surprises, announcements and movie confirmations to cinephiles. As in every year, the film fiesta was one of the most
anticipated events, revealing industry showcases for the upcoming months, with equal parts hype and a reality check on what Hollywood is indeed set to deliver. While the presentations by Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures stood out, DC remained low-key. Avengers: Doomsday came out as one of the most trended titles at the 14th edition of CinemaCon's biggest convention to date. The event this year was held from April 13 to 16 April, 2026. It returned to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. CinemaCon 2026 highlights included exclusive footage for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Dune: Part Three. Paramount teased Top Gun 3 and a new Transformers film. Apart from this, its top moments also centred on star-studded panels attended by stars like Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet, as well as major upcoming franchise reveals, defying industry concerns over box-office trends. Here's a clear breakdown of the best hit from CinemaCon 2026.
BEST OF CINEMACON 2026
1. Massive blockbusters hyped
Studios came in strong with major reveals like Avengers: Doomsday, Star Wars' The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Toy Story 5. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the final installment in the franchise, showcased extended clips with Miles Morales on Earth 42 vs. the Prowler, highlighting enhanced animation and glitch effects. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya teased a darker, "most emotional" chapter in Dune: Part Three, with footage indicating Chani's mature arc. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black revealed a "real world" twist on the formula, breaking the in-game avatar concept with Jumanji: Open World.
2. Studios rule
Sony and Paramount were hard on hits, creating significant buzz for a new Insidious entry, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and upcoming Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles projects. In a nutshell, early footage, surprise casting, and nostalgia-driven moments filled the venue as audience was treated to exclusive teasers, which energised theatre owners and fans. One thing that was confirmed is that Hollywood this year is returning all-in on event cinema.
3. Tom Cruise's big return
Tom Cruise's star power was at full display again. The legendary actor is returning with Top Gun 3 and this news became a major talking point at CinemaCon 2026. Stars like Jack Black stole the spotlight across multiple presentations too, proving that no matter what, big stars still sell tickets.
4. R-rated comedies comeback
With projects like Scary Movie revival and Jackass: Best and Last getting strong reactions, it is set to bring a subtle departure from years of superhero fatigue. Studios are betting on fun, irreverent theatrical experiences.
5. Legends return to helm
Auteur directors like Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg are back in focus with titles like The Odyssey and Disclosure Day. Both the legends are returning to their favourite genres, and fans are in for a helluva time at the theatres. They even dominated the buzz by teasing audience with exclusive clips from their movies. Thus, original, director-driven projects got as much attention as franchises.
6. Theatrical experience received strong backing
Industry leaders pushed for longer theatrical windows, that is, 60–120 days, before streaming. This is being seen as a big win for cinemas, proving that theatres aren't dying anytime soon. Executives from Sony, Warner Bros., Amazon MGM, Paramount and Disney dedicated their showcases to ensure that the movies would stay on their screens for longer. Steven Spielberg praised Universal's 45-day window, adding, "Today, I’ve gotta be greedy. Do I hear 60 days? Do I hear 120 days? Those days have got to be coming back to us soon. We can all make it happen. We have to insist on making it happen."
Expanding its international scope, the announcement of Bollywood's high-budget Ramayana adaptation, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, also garnered global attention.
