What is the story about?
Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar in the third and final instalment of the hit Hindi franchise, Drishyam. Titled Drishyam: The Conclusion, the film
is directed by Abhishek Pathak and slated to release in theatres on October 2, 2026 (Gandhi Jayanti), building heavily on the recall and relevance of this date in the movie's core plotline. Drishyam 3 is bringing back one of Bollywood's most loved crime-thriller families. Tabu also reprises her role as Meera Deshmukh, while Shriya Saran returns as Nandini Salgaonkar. The cast also includes Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat are also part of the new chapter.

Drishyam 3 takes the intense plot of the franchise to its crescendo. The trailer, which released on September 9, shows Devgn reprising the role of Vijay, the common cable operator and doting family man whose mind-reading ability helped him save his family. After the first two films built their stories around a murder, an elaborate cover-up, and the increasingly intense efforts of police officials to uncover the truth, the character became the emotional and strategic centre of the franchise.
In the final chapter, he is challenged by Paataal Lok star Jaideep Ahlawat who plays as SP Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar, who takes it upon himself to dig out the truth by all means.
The film picks up from the events of Drishyam 2 and brings a fresh story with a completely new screenplay. Rajveer takes on the seemingly impossible case and is determined to find the truth that Vijay has fought so hard to protect for years. But when the old secrets are about to come back, Vijay is in a fight where every step can have serious consequences.
Drishyam 3 keeps October 2 as release date
The release date of Drishyam 3 is significant, especially to franchise fans. October 2 was the day Vijay's carefully constructed alibi in the earlier story came into play, and the release of the film on 'Drishyam Day' was a calculated marketing move for the franchise. The thriller could also get a good opening weekend owing to the Gandhi Jayanti holiday.
Hindi version different from Malayalam film
One of the major developments around Drishyam 3 is that the Hindi film is not expected to follow the Malayalam version completely. The Hindi story, although it starts from the same point post Drishyam 2, takes a different path in terms of its screenplay and treatment, producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak have confirmed.
This is especially important, since Mohanlal's Malayalam Drishyam franchise has created its own storyline and audience. The change in the Hindi version suggests that even those who have watched the Malayalam movies will find something different in Ajay Devgn's version.
Drishyam to Drishyam: The Conclusion
The Hindi franchise kicked off with 2015's Drishyam, a remake of Jeethu Joseph's Mohanlal-led Malayalam thriller. Ajay Devgn's Vijay became one of the most iconic thriller protagonists in Bollywood, with Tabu's Meera being his formidable adversary.
Drishyam 2 director Abhishek Pathak is back in the director's chair for the third part. The director has also written the script along with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
