Why was Karuppu delayed?
Karuppu was scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on May 14. While some overseas markets went ahead with the planned premiere, Indian theatres had to wait for a day. The audience had booked First Day First Show for May 14; however, at the last minute, the film couldn’t be screened in the cinema halls.
According to Times Of India’s report, theatre distributor Ruban Mathivanan of GK Cinemas revealed that the delay was linked to financial issues. A source close to the production shared that if negotiations were successful, screenings could begin in the second half of May 14. As per reports, financiers, exhibitors and distributors allegedly incurred losses due to the production house's past films. With over Rs 50 crore in unsettled dues, Karuppu was facing obstacles. Eventually, the matter was resolved and Karuppu could finally release in theatres on May 15.
