Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla has been postponed for a week. The horror comedy directed by Priyadarshan will now release on April 17, instead of April 10.
The decision to postpone the film was Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s successful run at the box office. The producer of Bhooth Bangla, Ekta Kapoor, shared the new release date along with the reason behind it. Calling it a decision taken to support the cinema ecosystem, she announced paid previews of the film on April 16, 2026, from 9 PM.
Bhooth Bangla release date changed
A source close to the film told, “After an extensive discussion and multiple requests from our distribution partner & exhibitors across key markets, we have decided to postpone the release of Bhooth Bangla by one week. We remain committed to delivering a great cinematic experience and are confident that this decision will benefit audiences and let the film have a powerful run at the cinemas.”
Why was Bhooth Bangla postponed?
The official statement further read, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is currently enjoying an exceptional run at the box office, which is great news for Producers at large. Our exhibitors felt that giving it a clear, uninterrupted window would be in the best interest of the industry ecosystem.”
The statement ended by mentioning, “By moving Bhooth Bangla ahead by a week, we are ensuring that both films get the theatrical space, marketing focus, and audience attention they truly deserve. We believe this approach benefits everyone — the filmmakers, the exhibitors, and most importantly, the audiences who get to experience each film without compromise. Bhooth Bangla stars Akshay along with Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mithila Palkar. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with Cape of Good Films, the film is horror-comedy set in a fictional ghostly town of Mangalpur, where nobody can get married. The threat of Vadhusur looms over a palace. There are believers in the myth, but some challenge it. Bhooth Bangla is releasing in Hindi worldwide. After more than a decade, Akshay and Priyadarshan came together for a movie.
Bhooth Bangla was scheduled to release in May. However, the makers preponed it to match its release date with the summer holidays. The movie got postponed again.
