What is the story about?
Yash rose to fame with the blockbuster success of his 2018 film KGF: Chapter 1. The actor had been actively working in the Kannada film industry for some
time; however, he was widely appreciated for his performance in Prashanth Neel's film. The movie, featuring him as Rocky Bhai, hit the silver screen on December 21, 2018. It clashed with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma's Zero at the box office. Eight years down the line, Yash has finally opened up about KGF: Chapter 1's clash with Zero. It is to be noted that the Yash-starrer performed better at the box office than the Aanand L Rai directorial.
Yash Recalls KGF's Clash With Zero
In Aap Ki Adalat, Yash was asked if he deliberately chose to release KGF on the same day as Shah Rukh Khan's Zero. The actor revealed that he is a SRK fan and wanted to meet him once. That said, the Kannada actor stated that the scales of both movies were different. "Our film was a small one and Shah Rukh sir's film was huge, so we released on the same day," he said.
The actor further called SRK a 'superstar', adding that the day he feels he is bigger than his seniors, 'uss din meri dukaan band'. Talking about KGF: Chapter 1's box office performance, the movie did a business of Rs 238 crore globally, as per Sacnilk. Its India collection was Rs 185.24 crore. Zero, on the other hand, collected Rs 96.61 crore at the ticket window in India, while it earned Rs 178 crore at the global box office.
What's Next For Yash?
Work-wise, Yash is gearing up for the release of Toxic - A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The actor will be seen alongside five actresses - Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. Geetu Mohandas has directed this gangster drama while Yash and Venkat Narayana have backed it under Monster Mind Creations and KVN Productions. It has been scheduled for a big-screen release on August 26, 2026.
Shah Rukh Khan's Upcoming Movie
As far as Shah Rukh Khan is concerned, the actor will feature in Siddharth Anand's King with his daughter Suhana Khan. The superstar has also reunited with his Om Shanti Om, Pathaan, Jawan and Chennai Express co-star Deepika Padukone. It was earlier being directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Backed by Marflix Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie is set for December 24 release.
