At a recently held film festival, Ram Gopal Varma confirmed that he will be working on Sarkar 4. The film will be the fourth installment in his successful
Sarkar franchise. RGV's announcement about this project left everyone excited. For the unversed, the movie's fourth chapter was announced after 9 years of Sarkar 3. It featured Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan. Now, in a media interview, the Bollywood director has confirmed that the father-son duo will return for Sarkar's fourth part.
Sarkar 4 confirmed with Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek
In an interview with Mid-Day, Ram Gopal Varma revealed that the writing for Sarkar 4 has been done. He further shared that he will start the shoot in mid-2026. "Both Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan will be a part of the film," he told the tabloid.
Apart from that, the filmmaker expressed that he intends to complete the fourth installment of Sarkar within this year. After Sarkar 4's shoot wraps, RGV will begin working on his another thriller, Syndicate. The director added that the film is in its casting stage.
Meanwhile, at the time of Sarkar 3's release, RGV revealed if he felt any pressure to make the movie after the two installments worked. Reacting to this, the filmmaker told Firstpost that Sarkar is a 'situational' movie. "When you move with time in life, you face situations; it is those situations in the character of Mr Bachchan that the narrative takes forward."
The director added that he didn't believe makers should be worried about comparisons or live in any pressure. "It is for the audience to decide if the film matched up to the franchise. A filmmaker makes a movie with his vision and that duty I have served," he added.
About Sarkar franchise
The Sarkar franchise began in 2005 with the first installment starring Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek. In this political crime drama, the legendary actor played the role of Subhash Nagre. Apart from the father-son duo, the movie featured Katrina Kaif, Tanishaa Mukerji, Supriya Pathak, Kay Kay Menon, and others.
After Sarkar's success, the makers renewed it for second part. Titled Sarkar Raj, the film saw Big B and his son Abhishek reprising their characters from the original film. They were joined by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Supriya and Tanishaa. It was released in 2008. And later, the third part featured Yami Gautam, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh, and others. The movie was theatrically released in 2017.
