What is the story about?
Chitrangda Singh is the latest entrant in the Raat Akeli Hai franchise. The sequel, titled The Bansal Murders, marks Jatil Yadav’s return as he digs out
secrets behind yet another heinous case. This is Chitrangda’s second release in 2025. She also featured in Housefull 5. In an exclusive interview with Zoom for Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, Chitrangda reacted to receiving criticism for choosing roles in commercial films like Housefull 5. The dramedy, co-starring Akshay Kumar, faced extreme backlash for the inappropriate portrayal of female characters, including those played by Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri and Soundarya Sharma.
Chitrangda Singh reacts to facing criticism for films like Housefull 5
Talking to Zoom about being criticised for signing films like Housefull 5, Chitrangda said, “Ek creative satisfaction milta hai agar aap kuch alag kare. Usi tarah ke roles karenge toh audience bol sakti hai ki yeh yahi karti hai baar baar. It is easy for them to judge, but I don’t feel dictated. Agar maine special song ya item song bhi kiya toh I enjoyed it. Bohot maza aaya kyunki mujhe laga main yeh nahi kar sakti hu. Farah said you can do this saucy number, I thought this is not what I am known for. I feel as an actor, you just have to transform into that character and that is your job. Obviously, the right kind of people should be there. Be it independent cinema or commercial, with the right people, voh cinema engage karega.”

If I did a special song or an item song, I enjoyed doing it. I loved doing that because I never saw myself in that space. When Farah said, ‘You can do this saucy number’, I thought this is not what I am known for. I feel as an actor, you just have to transform into that character and that is your job.
