Diljit Dosanjh gets threats from Khalistani group
According to a report by India Today, pro-Khalistan groups have warned of possible disruptions at the event, though the singer himself remains calm and focused on spreading positivity. The threats are said to have come from the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), led by US-based separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
As per reports, this is not the first time Dosanjh’s concerts have faced protests. During his recent show in Perth, pro-Khalistan slogans were raised by a small group of attendees. Following that, SFJ issued fresh warnings ahead of his next international performance in New Zealand.
The controversy reportedly began when a video surfaced showing Dosanjh touching Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s feet as a mark of respect. The clip angered Khalistani supporters, who accused the singer of “insulting the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots.” On October 29, SFJ publicly threatened to disrupt his upcoming shows, calling out the gesture as disrespectful.
Earlier this month, Pannun had also announced plans to interrupt Dosanjh’s concert in Australia on November 1. However, the event proceeded peacefully, drawing a massive crowd of fans.
Responding to the rising tension, Dosanjh addressed the issue during his Brisbane performance, calling for unity and compassion. “Always talk about love. For me, this world is one. My Guru says, ‘Ik Onkar,’ meaning there is one God. There’s only love from my side for everyone,” he said.
