Blackpink member Jennie has said she plans to take a long break from the spotlight, as she wants to enjoy life without planning out every single detail
of her future. The 30-year-old recently spoke to Cosmopolitan and said she is planning to go on a hiatus after her current work commitments are over. Once she wraps up her summer festival dates and releases her second solo album, Jennie will be off enjoying life at a slower pace as she wants to take time out for rest and personal experiences, rather than diving back into another jam-packed schedule, the singer-rapper said. Jennie wants to travel Europe, relax on sunny beaches and indulge in simple pleasures like sipping Aperol Spritzes by the water. In the interview, she revealed that she's also looking forward to trying out new hobbies, be it experimenting more with fashion, hosting intimate dinner parties for friends or finally learning how to make elegant cocktails.
Not looking for perfection
Jennie said she is no longer striving for perfection. Instead, she wants to make music that feels honest and authentic, even if it's not perfect. "I'm more in control of who's in the studio and who I'm working with," she explained. "But I am definitely not in a space where I want to make everything perfect. If anything, I'm going in the other direction. I might sound bad sometimes, I might not be perfect, but I just want to enjoy the process, take things less seriously, and just be me. I’m not after perfection right now. I just want to be in a creative, good space," she shared.
Leaving room for spontaneity
Jennie also finds herself for the first time in her career without the next two or three years neatly laid out. Her schedule was booked up years in advance the year before, but this year she wants to leave room for spontaneity. "I think it's exciting and liberating," she says, "instead of worrying about the uncertainty."
"I'm leaving a little space in my head to see if there's something else I want to reach for," she said. According to her, there is something truly special about not knowing exactly what is coming. "It allows me to think and discover new possibilities. I think it's a great opportunity and I'm just enjoying every minute of it right now."
Solo music keeps the hype
Jennie has been performing a lot of unreleased songs live lately, which has caused lots of buzz online. Her upcoming album will include Less Than A Lover, as well as some new songs she's been playing on the summer festival circuit.
Blackpink's busy year
Jennie's announcement comes as Blackpink is in the midst of another busy period, with all four members continuing to juggle group activities with their solo careers.
All the members have branched out into various creative fields including music, acting, fashion and business while maintaining Blackpink's status as one of the biggest girl groups in the world.
