We are halfway through 2026, and the slate of movies gets exciting with each passing month. The first half of the year was a mixed bag with films like
Dhurandhar 2, Border 2, Bhooth Bangla, Cocktail 2, Main Vaapas Aaunga and many others turning out to be money-spinners at the box office. There were massive let-downs too, such as Do Deewane Seher Mein, Chand Mera Dil and more. The lineup gets better and bigger also in the next phase of the year. July begins with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha; August has two major weekends – one with Batwara 1947 clashing with Awarapan 2 and the Raksha Bandhan weekend where Sidharth Malhotra’s Vvan, Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha and Anupam Kher’s Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 clash. 2026 ends with Shah Rukh Khan vs Aneet Padda as their movies King and Shakti Shalini would share theatres on December 24. As we step into the second half of 2026, here’s the complete list of films that are releasing from July to December. Dates of movies including Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi, Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Five, and Kangana Ranaut’s Queen 2 are yet to be revealed. It is unclear whether they would release in 2026 or opt for an early 2027 opening.
Alpha – July 3
Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, is an action thriller directed by Shiv Rawail. It follows the story of Sita (Alia), who is raised by the antagonist to become an assassin. However, when she realises his sinister intentions, she teams up with another young woman (Sharvari) to defeat him. It is the first female-led action thriller in the YRF Spyverse. Hrithik Roshan has a cameo in the film.
Baby Do Die Do – July 3
Directed by Nachiket Samant, Baby Do Die Do stars Huma Qureshi, Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, Seema Pahwa, Rachit Singh, Vidya Malvade, Himanshu Malik, Marudhar Shekhawat and Arun Kushwah. The film follows the story of Baby Karmarkar, an assassin. It is produced by Saqib and Huma under Saleem Siblings production house.
Dhamaal 4 – July 10
Dhamaal 4, directed by Indra Kumar, is about a treasure hunt that keeps the characters on their toes. The film also promises to evoke nostalgia with references to the original Dhamaal. The comedy entertainer stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Sanjay Mishra, along with Esha Gupta, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Anjali Anand, Upendra Limaye, Vijay Patkar and Ravi Kishan.
The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress – July 24
Directed by Chettan DK, The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress stars Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade. The film revolves around the important national issue of food adulteration. Kajal plays the role of a determined lawyer, whereas Shreyas will be seen playing a father who is deeply concerned for his child.
Prahaar - The Ujjwal Nikam Story - August 7
Starring Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikander Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat, Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story is based on celebrated public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who led the prosecution against Ajmal Kasab in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks (26/11) trial. The film, directed by Avinash Arun, releases in theatres on August 7. The first teaser of the biopic is exclusively available in theatres along with Cocktail 2.
Batwara 1947 - August 14
Batwara 1947 is headlined by Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G. Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film is produced by Aamir Khan. Batwara 1947 is based on the Urdu play, Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamyai Nai. The film releases in theatres on August 14.
Awarapan 2 - August 14
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. The film marks Hashmi's return as the famous character Shivam. The romantic drama releases in theatres on August 14.
Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 - August 28
Khosla Ka Ghosla was a critically acclaimed film. Now, in 2026, the sequel, directed by Prashant Bhagia is releasing. Scheduled for August 28 release, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 stars Anupam Kher and Ravi Kishan.
Vvan – Force of the Forrest - August 28
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia headline Vvan – Force Of the Forrest which is scheduled to release in August. Rooted in Indian mythology, ancient folklore, and the world of the unseen, the film is said to be set in a dark, mysterious forest where supernatural forces and long-forgotten legends come to life. Arunabh Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra are the directors of the movie backed by TVF and Ekta Kapoor.
Eetha - August 28
Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha, directed by Laxman Utekar, is releasing in theatres on August 28, which will be celebrated as Raksha Bandhan in India. The film is a biopic of legendary lavani dancer and tamasha artiste Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The first teaser released exclusively in theatres along with Cocktail 2's prints.
Mirzapur The Film - September 4
Mirzapur has been adapted into a film, which is releasing on September 4. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Shweta Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohit Malik and many others. It is loosely based on the first season of the series.
Udta Teer - September 11
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer is a spy comedy. Written and directed by Akash A Kaushik, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain.
Vibe - September 18
Starring Preity Zinta, Kunal Kemmu, Vanshika Dhir and Sparsh Shrivastava, Vibe centres on two inseparable friends whose ordinary, unassuming lives spiral into an unpredictable, high-energy adventure that pushes their survival instincts and friendship to the limit. Produced by Kunal and Chirag Nihalani under the banner of Drongo Films, the film marks the first venture for Amazon MGM Studios. It releases on September 18.
Daayra - September 18
Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, is set to release on September 18. The film marks the third collaboration between Meghna Gulzar and Junglee Pictures, following their acclaimed films Raazi and Talvar. It also marks the first-ever co-production between Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, united by a story they unanimously believe needs to be told now more than ever. Inspired by true events, the gripping thriller is written by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal, and Meghna Gulzar.
Drishyam 3 - October 2
After the Malayalam version’s theatrical release in May, Ajay Devgn’s Hindi remake, Drishyam 3, will be releasing on October 2. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film takes the story forward and will be set after the events of the sequel. Drishyam 3 also stars Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat among several others.
Raftaar - October 16
Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh will star in Raftaar. It follows a story of two individuals in the backdrop of a startup venture in a competitive education world and how their careers and personal lives get intertwined. The film is gearing up for release in cinemas on October 16.
Ramayana - October 30
Based on the Valmiki Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari tells the Hindu epic in two parts. The first releases on October 30, which is Diwali. Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey lead the film.
Yeh Prem Mol Liya - November 27
Yeh Prem Mol Liya brings the famous Rajshri character, Prem, to the big screen after 11 years. The film releases in theatres on November 27. Ayushmann Khurrana plays the titular role along with Sharvari. Sooraj Barjatya directs the movie.
Ranger – December 4
Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia’s Ranger releases in theatres on December 4. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film reportedly follows a dedicated forest officer and his action-packed face-off with the primary antagonist.
Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's untitled film - December 4
Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna star in Anees Bazmee’s upcoming comedy. The first schedule went on floors this year in Kerala. The film will release on December 4.
King - December 24
King is headlined by Shah Rukh Khan. The other confirmed actors in the film are Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Saurabh Shukla, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, and Akshaye Oberoi. It is an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film releases on December 24.
Shakti Shalini - December 24
The first mythological horror-comedy in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, Shakti Shalini marks the entry of Aneet Padda into the franchise. The film also stars Nana Patekar, Viineet Kumar Siingh, Vishal Jethwa and others. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Shakti Shalini releases on December 24.
