Bollywood star Aamir Khan's passion project Laal Singh Chaddha was made on a budget of Rs 210 crore. However, the movie turned out to be one of Mr Perfectionist's
biggest flops of all time. Not just at the box office, the Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump also failed to strike a chord with the audience. In a recent interview, Aamir candidly spoke about the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir Khan Admits He Became 'Overconfident' With Laal Singh Chaddha On Komal Nahta's Gamechangers, Aamir admitted, “I became a little overconfident with Laal Singh Chaddha because I had delivered too many back-to-back hits. That is where I went wrong.” He confessed that his mistake was not placing an economic limit on the film’s budget. “I knew the film will earn one-third of Dangal. That film had earned Rs 385 crore, so I knew Laal Singh Chaddha will earn between Rs 100-120 crore. I was supposed to fix my budget based on this projection. When you know your film will earn you Rs 120 crore, you can keep your budget up to Rs 80 crore, maximum. Ideally, it should have been between Rs 50 crore or Rs 60 crore. However, we ended up spending Rs 200 crore,” shared the actor. Aamir also revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic caused massive losses for Laal Singh Chadha. He continued paying his crew despite halted production. He also admitted that traveling abroad to complete the shoot and filming a table tennis sequence in China, which was later cut, further increased costs. His team ended up exceeding the initial budget of Rs 120 crore, revealed the Dangal actor.
