When And Where To Watch Kara Online
Following its theatrical run, Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital streaming rights for the film for a substantial amount. According to reports, the rural action thriller is expected to premiere on Netflix on May 28, 2026. However, an official announcement is still awaited.
With Dhanush in the lead role and the film arriving on OTT soon, Kara is expected receive a strong response digitally. The film had received mixed to positive reviews upon its theatrical release. While some viewers appreciated the performances and visuals, others felt the film did not fully meet expectations at the box office.
About Kara: Cast, Plot, Box Office
The film revolves around Kara, played by Dhanush, a petty thief who distances himself from his family before marrying Malli, portrayed by Mamitha Baiju. The couple settles in Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh and works at a modest hotel to survive. Their simple life, however, does not stay quiet for long.
Unhappy with his financial struggles, Kara returns to his hometown seeking help from his father Kandhasaamy, where he discovers that his father has fallen into severe debt after borrowing money from banks. Realising that several innocent farmers are being exploited through loans and mounting interest, Karasaami decides to strike back by robbing banks. The rest of the story follows his daring journey.
The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, marking another successful collaboration with Dhanush. The film is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner. Kara features a strong supporting cast including Karunaas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Sreeja Ravi.
Against a budget of Rs 100 crore, Kara could only mint Rs 37.48 crore net in India and Rs 53.62 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. While the film could not do much at the box office, the OTT release is now expected to bring the film to a much wider audience.
