More about Khalnayak Returns
The sequel has remained one of Bollywood’s most talked-about projects since Sanjay Dutt announced it earlier this year. Dutt said Khalnayak Returns would not happen without Subhash Ghai. “The journey of Khalnayak has been long, and without Subhash ji, it wouldn’t have been possible. He is a legend and a man of entertainment. He will be part of this Khalnayak,” he shared.
Recalling how the idea stayed with him during his prison term in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, Dutt revealed, “In jail, I asked everyone around me who would be interested in watching it. And the 4,000 inmates said they all would.” He added that he even asked inmates to contribute story ideas for the new film. “When I came out on parole, I asked Subhash sir to go through it. After that, he said it should be made,” the actor said.
Meanwhile, Khalnayak (1993), directed by Subhash Ghai and starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff, emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of its time. The film became the second-highest-grossing Hindi release of the year and left a lasting impact.
