Along with the UA 16+ certificate, Alpha has also locked its runtime, which is 140 minutes (2 hours and 20 minutes). With Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor rounding up the cast, the actioner is now ready to explode on the big screen.
The censor certificate on the CBFC website also carries the official plot summary of the film. It hints at Alia Bhatt's Sita being a fierce addition to YRF spies after Tiger, Kabir, and Pathaan. The plot summary read, "Driven by revenge, a young girl destroys anyone in her path until her journey uncovers the hidden truths of her own life. Why Is Alpha An Important Film For YRF And Alia Bhatt?
Alpha is the 4th standalone film in the YRF Spy Universe and seventh overall after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. It will introduce Alia Bhatt as the first female spy of the spyverse, which has the likes of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan.
It is as important a project for YRF and Aditya Chopra as it is for Alia. After the underwhelming response to the last two spyverse movies, Tiger 3 and War 2, the banner will be hoping to bounce back strongly with Alpha and revive the fabled universe.
On the other hand, after the failure of Jigra, Alia would be looking to score a success before moving on to Love & War alongside her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
The response to the film's assets so far has been mixed. In a unique move, the makers have not unveiled any songs from the movie, keeping them as a surprise for the theatre audience. Whether the move will pay off or not remains to be seen. Alpha will be facing stiff competition from Welcome To The Jungle, which is currently going strong at the box office. Plus, with Dhamaal 4 arriving on July 10, it won't be an easy road for Alpha.
