What is the story about?
Can one legal case change the way the agricultural industry handles and distributes its products? The Hindi film, The India Story, written by Sagar B Shinde
and directed by Chettan DK, tries to argue that a young girl's premature death by cancer is linked to the harmful chemically produced fruits and vegetables. Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade play the little girl's parents who fight to bring justice to her death. The India Story is now streaming on JioHotstar, after having been released in theatres on July 24, 2026.
The India Story makes its OTT debut on JioHotstar
On Instagram, the streaming platform released the trailer of The India Story and wrote, "Jo khana zindagi deta hai, wahi zindagi cheen raha ho toh? The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress, now streaming on #JioHotstar." Shreyas plays Yogesh Patil, an army officer, who is urged into taking on the agricultural industry after the death of his seven-year-old to cancer. Kajal plays Advocate Archana, Yogesh's wife, who joins in his fight for justice. The film also features Murali Sharma as a police officer who helps Shreyas, Manish Wadhwa as a lawyer and young Trisha Sarda as Pari Patil, the young girl whose death spearheads her parents' mission.
The Hindi film, which was also released in Tamil and Telugu, is Chettan DK's directorial debut. Presented by Zee Studios in association with MIG Production & Studios, The India Story was filmed in Maharashtra, in cities such as Pune and Kohlapur. Writer Shinde is also the producer of the courtroom drama. The film's technical team includes cinematographer Nishant Bhagwat, music composer Mangesh Dhakde, editor Ashish Mhatre, and lyricist Shakeel Azami.
In an interview with ETV Bharat, Shreyas shared that the Hindi film deals with the very serious issue of food adulteration. He shared, "Today, many people question the quality of the food they consume daily. It is reassuring to see officials like Tukaram Mundhe taking strict action against food adulteration in Maharashtra. This film is not just another acting assignment for me. It is a project that carries an important social message."

The Times Now review of the Hindi drama stated, "The entire cancer treatment and government hospital scenes might not be moving enough, but they are still convincing, all because of the child actor, Trisha Sarda’s impressive performance and superb screen presence. Her pain, screams and innocent smile are enough to believe in Pari’s struggles."
