What is the story about?
Dhurandhar is on a box office rampage. With a record-breaking surge in its Week 2, the Aditya Dhar directorial has already crossed Rs 500 crore worldwide.
In India alone, it has touched Rs 450 crore. So what's next? The espionage thriller is now eyeing Rs 1000 crore at the global box office, a feat that has remained rare in Bollywood. Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Saumya Tandon and Gaurav Gera. While it is rewriting the rules for a spy movie, it continues to stay strong at the ticketing windows.
Dhurandhar against new releases
Dhurandhar will now enter its third week on December 19 (Friday). It released on December 5 and has refused to back out, smashing every other film, and even forcing some (like Ikkis) to shift their release dates. But as we enter the Christmas week, and with New Year around the corner, many new films are arriving. Do they pose a threat to Dhurandhar?
Dhurandhar dips, but does that matter?
Dhurandhar saw a visible dip on Day 13 (Wednesday). After collecting Rs 30.5 crore net on Tuesday, it dropped to Rs 25.50 crore. This is noticeable since the movie has seen an upswing in terms of daily numbers. Baring its first and second Mondays (December 8 and 15), Dhurandhar has remained a winner. So is the latest dip worth a concern?
Dhurandhar Vs Avatar: Fire And Ash
James Cameron's much-anticipated Avatar: Fire And Ash arrives this Friday. With buzz strong around the Hollywood film, and the fact that this movie is meant for a big screen experience owing to its vast canvas and striking visuals, Avatar 3 is bound to pull audience to the theatres. This, in all probability, can affect Dhurandhar, which is currently comfortably acquiring almost all the screens in a theatre.
But, judging Dhurandhar with just a day's dip might be one-sided. In totality, the film has crossed Rs 500 crore globally on its Day 11. It is now strongly eyeing Rs 1000 crore worldwide. Domestically too, it has earned approximately Rs 524.5 crore gross, and the collections rise as we write this!

Dhurandhar made Rs 207.25 crore net in its Week 1, and is expected to cross Rs 250 crore by the close of Week 2. It entered Rs 400 crore club in just 12 days. Many see the holiday season as a boon for the film, which might gain, rather getting being impacted by new releases. Going by the pace, a strong word of mouth and its repeat-watch value, Dhurandhar is only at the profitable end of the table.
