What is the story about?
Shah Rukh Khan's dream Ra.One may not have set the box office on fire but the ambitious sci-fi movie has aged well with the audiences. For a film released
in 2011 to have such impressive visual effects was an accomplishment of its own, something that people realised much later. Thus, there has been a demand for a sequel to Ra.One. King Khan, during the meet and greet with fans on his 60th birthday, shared that he is open to making the sequel. He also expressed that the Anubhav Sinha directorial did not live up to his expectations in terms of starting a new trend in Hindi cinema.
SRK on his expectations from Ra.One
In an honest confession, SRK said, "Because it was a new kind of film, it was very close to my heart. Anubhav worked really hard to make it. So I was expecting it to start a new trend. Because I always feel that if I make a film- since my position is so good, and I have really been gifted by God to be in this position - then I should make things that inspire others to make such films too. Because it's very important for our country."

He further added that after Ra.One, he thought 'studios would come here and a lot of things would change'. "So yes, it didn’t quite live up to those expectations. But as a film, it did very well. I think people loved it even then."
The King actor feels that the film will be much more acceptable in today's times. He noted, "Maybe there were things like PlayStation, video games, or iPads- that people weren’t so familiar with back then. Now we know much more about all that. Everyone has a smartphone now. Back then, it wasn’t like that. Today, it would probably be more acceptable."
Will SRK ever make Ra.One sequel?
About the possibility of a sequel to Ra.One, King Khan revealed that he is open to it, more so because it is easier to make such a film now. "So yes, if Anubhav ever decides to… because he's the one who made it, and I think only he can make it again. We worked really hard on it. And God willing, if the time ever feels right, we might do it again. It's easier now anyway."
Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 60th birthday on November 2. On the special occasion, he unveiled the first glimpse of his next - King. The title announcement of the Siddharth Anand directorial has set the internet buzzing.
