Christopher Nolan's IMAX epic, based on Homer's poem seems to be on an unstoppable voyage at theatres. Since releasing on July 17, the film has shattered
multiple records. The Matt Damon led film, which also stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson in pivotal roles has now managed to cross Rs 150 crore gross at the India box office. Interestingly, Nolan's last outing in Oppenheimer had managed only Rs 116.94 crore gross at the same time frame. As per a Sacnilk, Day 12 collections for The Odyssey stood at Rs 4.15 crore, marking a 7.8 per cent increase over the previous day's Rs 3.85 crore net haul. With earnings from 4,625 shows, the Christopher Nolan film has now amassed Rs 152.40 crore gross and Rs 127.65 crore net at the Indian box office. Interestingly, the Day 11 collection of The Odyssey saw a 66.4 per cent drop from Sunday’s net collection of Rs 11.45 Cr. English still continues to be the dominant earner for the film with it earning Rs 3.50 cror e for makers with a 58 per cent occupancy across 2,769 shows. Despite having 1,532 shows, the Hindi versions have only seen 19 per cent occupancy, raking in Rs 0.50 crore at theatres. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has entered a crucial stage of its theatrical run after completing 12 days in cinemas. Following a stellar second weekend at the Indian box office, the Matt Damon-led mythological epic experienced the expected weekday dip on its second Monday as business slowed after the weekend surge. However, with the Tuesday shows seeing a massive surge for the Nolan film, it seems that The Odyssey is back on track on its epic voyage across theatres. However, with Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to arrive in theatres in the coming days, all eyes are on whether The Odyssey can sustain its momentum amid the superhero blockbuster's expected box office dominance. At the global stage, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey continued its remarkable box office run, earning an impressive $90 million from 3,943 North American theatres in its second weekend. The final figure surpassed Sunday's estimate of $87 million, with the film dropping just 27 per cent from its blockbuster $123.5 million opening weekend. The exceptional hold further underscores Nolan's drawing power, as most tentpole releases that debut above $100 million typically witness second-weekend declines of 50 per cent or more. The achievement is even more notable given the film's R rating, which restricts viewers under 18 from purchasing tickets without an accompanying adult. As per a report in Variety, with its outstanding second-weekend performance, The Odyssey has recorded the second-biggest sophomore weekend ever for an R-rated film, trailing only Disney's Deadpool & Wolverine, which collected $96 million in its second weekend after opening to a record-breaking $221 million domestically.
