What is the story about?
Marvel opened its most anticipated run at the CinemaCon 2026 on April 16, as part of Disney's presentation in Las Vegas, with a bunch of things around
Avengers: Doomsday, that are now blowing up its fandom. Apart from the director duo, the Russo Brothers, Marvel boss Kevin Feige, and actors Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans gave the audience a lot of surprises, the main high point of the event was the unveiling of the first full trailer of Doomsday, which featured thrilling footage giving a glimpse into the big upcoming fight between Doctor Doom and the Marvel heroes. Another MCU veteran, actor Chris Evans, who played Captain America until Avengers: Endgame, was also present at CinemaCon to support his colleagues.
Avengers: Doomsday thrilling trailer
According to reports, the exclusive footage showed Chris Hemsworth's Thor battling Doctor Doom. While we know RDJ has left behind his Iron Man and is turning Victor von Doom in Marvel's highly awaited tentpole later this year, this was also his first look reveal as the main antagonist this time. The trailer also included thrilling moments like Steve picking up Thor's hammer (Mjölnir) again, as well as the return of the X-Men, a glimpse of which we saw in the bunch of teasers Marvel released weeks ago.
Footage breakdown - Doom to Steve, Thor and others
As per media reports, Avengers: Doomsday trailer begins with a close look at Doom's green-hooded, metal-faced character, who's gearing up to invade and unleash mayhem across the multiverse. And this is being seen and felt by Professor Xavier, who's looking out of his X-Mansion window at a bright flash of light in the sky, signalling trouble.
The trailer then shows the return of several heroes, including crossovers. While Gambit battles and Shang-Chi, Mystique transforms into Yelena Belova, leading to a fight between two Florence Pughs. In the clash between Thor and Doom, the villain manages to catch Mjolnir, making it a thrilling moment. However, the most remarkable shot is when Thor finally reunites with Steve Rogers, given how he had gone back in time at the end of Endgame. Steve even grabs Thor's hammer, just like he did in Avengers: Endgame.
The trailer of CinemaCon follows the previous four teasers dropped by Marvel, each one focussing on Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, where all of them are watching out for a possible call to battle.
Avengers: Doomsday blends MCU superheroes
Avengers: Doomsday is blending Earth's Mightiest Heroes with the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts. The Fantastic Four ship, which crossed into the MCU in the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts, will lead us to Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing finally meeting the New Avengers. The movie also includes a showdown between the Wakandan army from Black Panther and Namor's underwater Talokans following their Wakanda Forever rivalry.
At CinemaCon, both RDJ and Chris Evans appeared on stage and confirmed that the makers were sticking to December 18, 2026, release date, with no change. Infact the rereleased version of Avengers: Endgame, that's going to build on the excitement ahead of Doomsday, will include some exclusive footage of the new movie.
