Jana Nayagan: Court Bans Illegal Streaming Of Film
The film’s journey hit a major roadblock when several scenes were leaked online. These clips quickly spread across social media platforms, creating a serious threat to the film. The situation escalated further when a local cable TV operator aired portions of the leaked content. Taking the matter seriously, the Madras High Court granted an interim injunction restraining internet service providers and cable operators from streaming the film illegally. This legal move aims to protect the film’s intellectual property and prevent further circulation of illegal content.
Soon after the production team, represented by lawyer Vijayan Subramanian, issued a strict public notice warning against sharing or consuming pirated content. The notice he shared read that downloading, forwarding, or distributing leaked clips constitutes a criminal offense. The lawyer posted the note that his client is the producer of the film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, directed by H. Vinoth, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film has been made with an investment of several hundred crores and carries significant theatrical, satellite, OTT and commercial value. He stated that it came to the producer’s notice with shock and urgency that certain scenes from the film had been illegally accessed, downloaded, copied and circulated by individuals, and forwarded to third parties, posing a serious risk of digital leakage across social media platforms.
Police Crackdown on Piracy
Authorities have also taken swift action against those involved in the leak. The Coimbatore District Police arrested a cable TV operator, S. Palanisamy, for telecasting the pirated version of the film. He was booked under multiple laws, including the Copyright Act, Information Technology Act, and the Cinematograph Act.

These challenges, combined with the recent leak, have created uncertainty around the final release date. Despite the controversy, fans of Vijay have shown unwavering support. Social media is filled with messages asking audiences to avoid pirated content and watch the film only in theatres.
