What is the story about?
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey starring Zendaya, Elliot Page, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal,
Mia Goth, and Matt Damon, is one of the most anticipated films of the year. With a stellar cast, fans' expectations are high, given that Nolan has delivered back-to-back blockbusters, and this one appears to be no exception. Amid all the buzz, a new interview with Tom Holland is making rounds, where he has opened up on being sober for three years now.
Tom Holland Opens Up On Three Years Of Quitting Alcohol
According to PEOPLE, Tom celebrated 3 years of sobriety and said in a recent interview, "It feels amazing. A little bit like a brand-new identity, almost. I'm really proud of it. Every day we are making big steps in the right direction, and we are growing every day--thinking of new ways to innovate and coming up with new ideas for products."
Confessing that he struggled with wanting alcohol, Tom quoted advice from his lawyer, "You will never wake up the morning after a night out and wish you had a drink."
"Every Friday after work was a write-off: Let's get drunk and have a good time. I didn't have bad experiences, but I would drink enough so that I would ruin my next day," he added.
For the unversed, actor's early struggles with going sober took place on the sets of The Crowded Room in May 2022.
Professional Front
Earlier, in a conversation with Agence-France Presse, Holland revealed that he has wrapped up the production of the Matt Damon starrer and is solely focused on getting the tricks of the superhero right for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. About The Odyssey, he said, "It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen."
Further, he added, "Working with Chris and getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure."
The Odyssey is set to release in theaters on July 17, 2026.
