Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan 2 has reportedly roped in Disha Patani as its female lead. The new film will have Nitin Kakkar replacing Saiyaara helmer
Mohit Suri as its director. Awarapan was first released in 2007 and brought Hashmi a lot of accolades for his performance despite a lukewarm reception. The original movie went on to become one of his most underrated films and its sequel is expected to have more in store. According to a report on Pinkvilla on September 10, it was stated that Mukesh Bhatt and Nitin Kakkar have signed Disha as the lead opposite Emraan Hashmi. It quoted a source that said on the lines of its first installment, Awarapan 2 will also be an "intense story" and will be set against the backdrop of the gangster world.

"Much like Awarapan, the sequel too is an intense love story, set against the backdrop of the gangster world. The spirit of the first part is intact, and the makers are expanding the world into a sequel format with 2x the romance and 2x the emotions. Emraan Hashmi will be playing Shivam Pandit, whereas details of Disha’s character have been kept under wraps," the source said as per the publication.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the filming for Awarapan 2 will begin in September end or early October, and is expected to wrap up by January 2026. It will aim at a summer 2026 release.
On his birthday, March 24 this year, Emraan Hashmi announced Awarapan 2 for the first time with a special teaser of its first movie, infusing nostalgia. The clip ended on the film's original logo with the addition of "2" confirming the sequel. Awarapan also had a re-release in February 2025.

Mahesh Bhatt on Awarapan
Mahesh Bhatt, who wrote the story of Awarapan, had previously told Zoom, "Awarapan is, in my opinion, Mohit Suri’s finest film, showcasing a breakthrough performance by Emraan Hashmi. The film was appropriately scaled to match the demands of its narrative, blending great music with a sombre core."
A confirmation and more details on Awarapan 2 are awaited.
