What is the story about?
Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film Jailer 2, a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster film Jailer, has been in the buzz ever since its announcement.
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film's shoot has begun in Kerala. Rajinikanth has arrived in God's Own Country, to work on a key schedule for the action entertainer.
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 To Release After June 2026
Talking to the press at the airport, Rajinikanth was asked about the film's release date and progress. He said "I've come to Kerala for the shoot of Jailer 2 which is for six days. The film will release after June, next year."
A few weeks ago, Shiva Rajkumar was seen on the sets of Jailer 2 confirming his presence in the film. Shiva Rajkumar’s cameo from the first part went hit upon release, with audiences raving about the actor’s electrifying screen presence. His scene in the climax of Jailer has been popularly named the tissue box scene, and the background score, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, was highly appreciated.
Fans of Rajinikanth, praised the film as it featured Rajinikanth’s in a different role. The dark comedy theme that director Nelson is known got a thumbs up from fans. Apart from Shiva Rajkumar the film featured Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sunil also featured in extended cameos. The film starred Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu and several others in prominent roles alongside Rajinikanth.
Mithun Chakraborty In Jailer 2?
In a casting coup that has created a strong buzz about the film Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty is all set to share screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth in Jailer 2. He is said to pla a full-fledged role, which is instrumental to the film's story.
Previously, Rajinikanth made special appearances in two of Mithun Chakraborty's films. One was in Hindi (Bhrastachar, 1989) and another one in Bengali (Bhagya Devta 1997).
Rajinikanth was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie.
