Dhanush, who previously worked with Subbaraj on Jagame Thandhiram, took to his social media to mention about the performances and Ilaiyaraaja’s music in his social media post. Dhanush Praises Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy
Dhanush took to social media to share his appreciation for Dorothy and director Karthik Subbaraj. The actor described the film as a “masterpiece” and praised its emotional depth, performances and music.
“Dorothy - a masterpiece from Karthik Subbaraj. Bold and poignant. Raw and intense. Every actor has performed brilliantly. Our maestro Ilayaraaja sir’s background score will blow your mind away. Rudhrathandavam (divine dance) from isaignani (Ilaiyaraaja). Best wishes to my dear friend Karthik Subbaraj and the entire team on the release tomorrow. God bless,” Dhanush wrote.
The actor and director previously collaborated on Jagame Thandhiram. Dorothy stars Keerthy Suresh in the titular role, with Sananth and Rishikanth also playing key characters. Ramachandran Durairaj, Muthukumar, Gajaraj and Jeeva Subramanian are part of the supporting cast.

Dorothy marks Karthik Subbaraj’s 10th directorial venture. The film is produced by Subbaraj under his Dhammam Films banner, alongside Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain of Sikhya Entertainment, with Jyoti Deshpande backing the project under Jio Studios.
Set against a rural Tamil Nadu backdrop, the film explores a world shaped by caste, violence and toxic masculinity. The TIFF synopsis describes the story as following two childhood friends who grow up inseparably, with their lives transformed by the arrival of Dorothy, a woman who changes the world around them.
Acclaimed music director Ilaiyaraaja has composed the music, marking his first collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj. The technical team includes cinematographer S Thirunavukkarasu, editor Ganesh Siva, production designer Kumar Gangappan and stunt choreographer Dinesh Subbarayan.
The film has received an A certificate from the censor board and has a runtime of 2 hours, 26 minutes and 8 seconds. While Keerthy Suresh plays a significant role as Dorothy, her overall screen time in the film is reportedly limited to around 20–25 minutes. Dhanush is currently busy working on Om which also stars Mammootty in a key role.
