Rashmika Mandanna is all heart as she shares what the festival truly means to her, from the warm glow of diyas to the joy of togetherness. Rashmika reflects
on why Diwali remains her favourite time of the year, the rituals she cherishes, and the lessons that continue to light up her journey.
Rashmika shares why Diwali has always been super special to her
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Rashmika shared, "For me, the festive season has always been about togetherness and sharing joy. It’s never really the big things… it’s those little moments that make it special. Growing up, I loved decorating the house with diyas, helping my family with rangolis, and sneaking in a few extra sweets before everyone came over — I think it’s pretty known how much of a dessert lover I am,” she quips with a smile.
Currently juggling film promotions and shooting schedules, Rashmika admits that it’s the smaller, heartfelt moments that make the festival shine brighter.
“I’m in the middle of last-minute prep, the house half done, and then my friends show up with decorations, food, and outfits. Suddenly, everything just comes alive with laughter, warmth, and colour. That’s what the festive season means to me — celebrating love, light, and those small, happy moments with the people who matter most,” she adds.
Even with her packed schedule, Rashmika ensures that the essence of Diwali remains intact.
“Diwali has always been super special to me! Even with my crazy schedule, I try to keep the spirit of the festival alive. I may not always be home, but I make sure to light a few diyas, wear something traditional, and call my family… that’s a must. I do miss the long celebrations sometimes, but I hold on to the little things — like making rangoli or even sneaking in a piece of kaju katli between shoots!”

Rashmika loves Rangoli
Despite being constantly on the move, Rashmika finds comfort in age-old traditions that keep her grounded.
“Honestly, I do my best! Even if I’m not home, I try to take a moment wherever I am to light a diya or just pause for a small prayer. There’s something really calming about these little rituals. Rangoli is something I love, but with back-to-back shoots, it’s tough so I’ll either help a little or just admire the ones others make around me. Puja, though, is a must for me. Even if I can’t be physically present, I try to join in virtually with my family. It’s not always about doing it perfectly, but more about feeling connected to your roots — and I always try to hold on to that.”
Rashmika can't resist a good box of kaju katli
When asked what she wants to light up this Diwali, Rashmika’s response shines with gratitude.
“Diwali really is about lights and gratitude, isn’t it? This year, I just feel so thankful… it’s been such a beautiful ride with back-to-back releases, so much love coming in, and endless blessings. If there’s one thing I’d like to light up this year, it’s more positivity and kindness — not just around me, but in everything I do.”
Of course, no Diwali is complete without indulging in sweets — something Rashmika simply can’t resist.
“I have the biggest sweet tooth ever! During Diwali, there’s no way I can resist a good box of kaju katli… it’s my forever favorite! And honestly, once I start, there’s no stopping me… it’s Diwali after all, right? Gotta celebrate with some extra sweetness!”
