Yami Gautam On Her National Award Win For Article 370
Yami Gautam arrived at the 72nd National Film Awards ahead of the ceremony, where she is set to receive the Best Actress honour for her performance in Article 370. Speaking on the red carpet, the actress opened up about the significance of the recognition and admitted that she was still processing the moment.
“It feels great. This is the biggest validation for any artist that you can receive and it's the highest honour by your country. I don't think I'll be able to express how I'm feeling right now. I'm still trying to soak it in,” Yami said.
The actress also revealed that despite the magnitude of the occasion, she was experiencing the excitement of a newcomer. “I'm just smiling, but inside I'm still feeling like the energy of a newcomer for whom everything is so new and big and so special,” she said.
Yami added that the honour felt particularly meaningful because of what Article 370 brought to her professionally and personally as an artist. Reflecting on the film and her journey, Yami said, “For a film like Article 370, which gave me so much as an artist, bahut saalo ki challenges, patience, they trickle down to one moment and for me that was Article 370.” The actress is set to receive the Best Actress award at the 72nd National Film Awards for her performance in the 2024 political thriller.
