The Odyssey journey with all their might. Nolan’s adaptation of the Homeric epic continues to dominate the Indian box office on its fifth day in theatres. The film, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson in lead roles, witnessed a slight jump in collections on Tuesday, taking its India gross to Rs 92.63 crore and nett collections to Rs 77.65 crore. As per estimates by Sacnilk, The Odyssey earned approximately Rs 8.35 crore nett on Tuesday, registering a 4.4 per cent rise over Monday's estimated Rs 8 crore collection. The film's total India net collection now stands at an estimated Rs 77.65 crore, while its India gross has reached around Rs 92.63 crore. Incidentally Oppenheimer had earned Rs 7.47 crore on its first Tuesday in theatres, while its nett collection was Rs 6.25 crore. The film opened with Rs 17.40 crore on Friday, July 17, before rising to Rs 22 crore on Saturday. It remained steady on Sunday with Rs 21.90 crore, ending its opening weekend with an impressive Rs 61.30 crore net, one of the strongest starts ever for a Christopher Nolan film in the country.
The Odyssey Earnings In India: Language-wise Breakdown
As per Sacnilk, English shows of The Odyssey continue to drive numbers, raking in Rs 6.05 crore with 63 per cent occupancy in 4,380 shows. The Hindi version has earned Rs 1.25 crore, while Tamil and Telugu versions have earned Rs 0.20 crore and Rs 0.40 crore respectively.
Night shows for The Odyssey continue driving maximum traffic at 25.67 per cent followed by afternoon shows at 20.56 per cent. Morning shows have registered lowest footfalls at 11 per cent.
The Odyssey At Global Box Office
Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey stormed the global box office on debut with a spectacular opening weekend, with $264.1 million worldwide. The epic action-adventure earned $124.5 million from 3,919 theatres across North America. Outside North America, The Odyssey added $139.6 million from 73 international markets, taking its worldwide opening haul to an impressive $264.1 million.
The film has now secured the biggest global opening of Christopher Nolan's career, surpassing the worldwide debuts of The Dark Knight Rises at $249 million, The Dark Knight at $198 million and the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer at $180 million.
The Odyssey Earnings Ahead Of Spider-Man Release
Reports state that The Odyssey is expected to continue its strong performance through the coming weekend. Advance bookings for Saturday and Sunday are reportedly filling up quickly, particularly for IMAX and other premium-format shows. If the current trend continues, the film is well on course to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in India. However, it faces a major block on July 30 when Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theatres.
