Vishwanath and Sons starring Suriya in the lead continued its impressive theatrical run on Day 5, despite witnessing a dip in daily collections. The film
which also stars Mamitha Baiju has earned Rs 6.35 crore net in India on Tuesday, taking its total India net collection to Rs 72.30 crore. Its worldwide gross has now crossed Rs 128 crore, allowing the family drama to surpass the lifetime collection of Suriya’s ambitious fantasy film Kanguva. Interestingly, Vishwanath and Sons achieved this milestone in just five days, while Kanguva had a much larger budget of up to Rs 350 crore. These encouraging numbers are making Suriya's Anbanna fans beaming with excitment.
Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons Surpasses Kanguva
The latest figures have helped director Venky Atluri's Vishwanath and Sons comfortably overtake Kanguva, which ended its theatrical run with around Rs 105-106 crore worldwide. The new family drama crossed that figure within its first four days and has now reached Rs 128.60 crore globally.
Directed by Siva Kanguva was mounted on a reported budget of Rs 300-350 crore and opened to around Rs 37.75-40.5 crore worldwide. Vishwanath and Sons, meanwhile, was made on a comparatively lower budget of around Rs 120-185 crore and opened with approximately Rs 27.51-32 crore globally.
Vishwanath and Sons has also surpassed Kanguva’s India net collection of Rs 70.39 crore, with its current tally standing at Rs 72.30 crore. It has also overtaken Retro, which collected Rs 60.50 crore, to become Suriya’s second-highest post-pandemic film in India, behind Karuppu’s Rs 198 crore benchmark.
The film has reportedly recovered around 56 percent of its budget within five days.
Vishwanath and Sons Day 5 Box Office Collection
According to Sacnilk, Vishwanath and Sons collected Rs 6.35 crore net in India on Day 5, an 18.6 percent drop from its Rs 7.80 crore Monday collection. The film recorded 5,021 shows across the country on Tuesday. Its India net collection has now reached Rs 72.30 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 83.60 crore.
The film also added Rs 2 crore to its overseas gross on Day 5, taking its overseas total to Rs 45 crore. Consequently, the Suriya and Mamitha Baiju starrer has amassed a worldwide gross of Rs 128.60 crore.
The Tamil version earned Rs 3.15 crore with 21 percent occupancy across 3,054 shows, while the Telugu version collected Rs 3.20 crore from 1,967 shows. The Telugu version recorded stronger overall occupancy at 33.98 percent, compared with 25.46 percent for Tamil.
