Apart from that, it secured nominations in categories like Best Make-Up and Hairstyling, Best Supporting Actress, Best Casting, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Original Song, Best Visual Effects, Best Costume Design.
Sinners scores 4 big wins at Academy Awards
Sinners won 4 major awards at the ceremony. Coogler won the award for Best Original Screenplay, while Michael won the Best Actor award. On the other hand, Autumn Durald Arkapaw was honoured with an Oscar for Best Cinematography. And Ludwig Göransson won the Best Original Score honour.
Michael B Jordan's speech
After winning the Best Actor award for Sinners, Michael delivered a wholesome speech. He mentioned, "Thank you everybody in this room and everybody at home is support you on my career. I feel it. I know you guys only want to me do well and I want to do that because you guys have bet on me. Thank you for betting on me. I’m gonna keep stepping up and keep being the best version of myself."
The Sinners actor also mentioned the previous Best Actor winners (actor of colour) in his speech. "I stand here because of the people who came before me."
What Ryan Coogler said?
When Ryan won the award for Best Original Screenplay, Ryan delivered an emotional speech. Expressing gratitude, the filmmaker said, "I want to thank the Academy for thinking of our movie that came out almost a year ago. This is an incredible honour. I want to thank my fellow nominees. I want to thank y’all for the gifts that y’all movies were and for y’all’s friendship over the past years and months." Before concluding his speech, the filmmaker mentioned his wife, Zinzi Evans, their three children and his mother.
Meanwhile, Sinners was released last year on April 18.
