What is the story about?
Border 2 takes JP Dutta’s legacy forward with a bunch of new actors. The ethos of the makers remains the same – celebrating the bravery of the Indian Armed
Forces. While Sunny Deol is the only constant in the franchise, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty join him in paying tribute to the unsung heroes. Rumours were rife that Border 2 would bring back the original cast, including Suniel Shetty and Akshaye Khanna in the capacity of cameos. In fact, a still from the song Ghar Kab Aaoge went viral because an actor resembled Akshaye. Nidhi Dutta, who is co-producing Border 2 with Bhushan Kumar, reacted to the swirling rumours in an exclusive conversation with Zoom.
Is Akshaye Khanna in Border 2?
Nidhi, the elder daughter of JP Dutta, takes the legacy of Border forward with the same passion and emotion as her father, who created history in Indian cinema. Clueless about the rumour of Akshaye returning to the franchise, she clarified that the Dhurandhar actor is not associated with Border 2. “No, it is not true. We did not reach out to him,” Nidhi confirmed.
Border 2’s first song, Ghar Kab Aaoge, was launched at Longewala and Tanot in Jaisalmer on January 2. The official audio-visual track premiered amidst BSF officers, their families and thousands of fans. In one portion of the song, netizens noticed an actor who looked similar to Akshaye. Hoping to see the Dhurandhar star back on the big screen, fans assumed that he would be making a special appearance in Border 2.
However, the person who was compared to the veteran was a different actor. Coincidentally, they look quite similar. Amid Dhurandhar’s roaring success, it is natural for his fans to anticipate his return to the Border franchise, which has no direct connection to J P Dutta’s iconic war film based on the Battle of Longewala. The characters in the spiritual sequel are different.
Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. The war film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh. Co-starring Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana and others, it releases on January 23.
