Anupam Kher's Exclusive Interview
Kher sat down for an exclusive conversation with Zoom and talked about the difficult time when his wife and actress Kirron, was diagnosed with cancer. The veteran actor has also shared valuable tips for a successful relationship for the younger generation and no, it's not just love but much more.
Talking to Zoom, Tanvi the Great actor said, "You are known by the choices that you make in life, in difficult times, not in good times. That is where your character shows, that's where your steel is recognized and no one knows that I will behave like this in this situation, because you don't know what turn a relationship or life takes at any given time. You don't know the next moment, but I always tell everyone that when you are in difficult times, how you behave, how you react, that decides what kind of person you are."
Further, he added, "Kirron and I have completed 40 years of our marriage. Not necessarily, we were together for so many years, she was MP for 10 years, so she used to come and go and I was doing a very successful show in America called New Amsterdam, and I got an extension of 3 seasons, it was very successful. When I started doing the third season, I got to know that Kirron is diagnosed with multiple myeloma and my immediate reaction was that I should be next to her. Not that I am a doctor or anything like that, but I said, even if not that, she said to me, come. Of course, she was devastated, because anybody's word is frightening but I said, no, I must leave this show."
Anupam Kher's Mantra To A Happy, Successful Relationship/Marriage
"Courage is very important in relationships because courage makes you what choices you make. Professionally, that was a very big thing for me, to be part of that show. Financially, that was a very big thing to be part of that show, it was my ambition was to be an international actor and that show could have fulfilled that. But it was important for me to come back. And it's not that I came back and sat with her, but this is something one needs to do," the veteran actor quoted emotionally.
"My relationship with Kiran is that of great respect, of course, love is there but when you are married to somebody for 40 years, it's an amazing and beautiful feeling. It's a feeling of strength, and I need to sometimes give strength to her because she has given strength to me so many times. Which were my weaker points, weaker times, so, that's a very natural thing to happen," Kher concluded.
For the unversed, Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher married each other on August 26, 1985. Anupam was previously married to actress Madhumati Kapoor, while the latter was married to Gautam Berry.
