Hollywood is just three days away from the biggest night in the world of movies - the Oscars 2026. The 98th Academy Awards, honouring the best films from last
year, will see the crème de la crème of the industry gather at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The red carpet has already been rolled out, with host Conan O’Brien preparing for the ceremony. However, amid the excitement among movie buffs, a concerning update has surfaced online. According to reports, the FBI has warned California authorities about a possible retaliatory drone attack by Iran targeting the US West Coast. Security has been heightened amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel. Oscars 2026 Faces Possible Iran Drone Threat Reportedly, the FBI recently alerted law enforcement across California that Iran could launch drones in response to US military actions. While the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not comment directly on the memo, officials said they are operating at an "elevated level of readiness" and maintaining extra vigilance. As per Variety, security has been increased at the venue, although the changes are not very visible. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences declined to comment on the matter. Security Heightened At Oscars 2026 Venue Meanwhile, organisers of the Academy Awards recently assured that strong security measures are in place. During a press conference earlier this week, executive producer Raj Kapoor said safety remains a top priority. He explained that the event works closely with the FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) every year to monitor global developments and ensure security. Kapoor added that the team wants everyone attending or watching the show to feel safe and protected. "This show has to run like clockwork," he said. "But we want everybody who is coming to this show, who is witnessing the show, who is even a fan of the show, when they’re standing outside the barricades. We want everybody to feel safe, protected, and welcome. It’s our job as a producing team to make sure that that translates, and that really comes down to us with this very tight relationship, and we have a whole other team of support. It’s something that we don’t take lightly and we take a lot of responsibility for." The 98th Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theatre on March 15. It will be broadcast in more than 200 territories. The ceremony will air live on ABC and stream on Hulu on the same day.
