What is the story about?
It's official! Rajkummar Rao and Keerthy Suresh have teamed up for their first film, Raftaar. Rumours of the two actors doing a film had been doing the rounds
for a while. And on March 14, the makers of Raftaar made an official announcement about the film's title and release date. Media reports earlier suggested that the film was titled Shikshak. However, the final title is Raftaar, which has been directed by Aditya Nimbalkar. Interestingly, this movie has been produced by Rajkummar's wife, Patralekhaa under the banner of Kampa Films.
Rajkummar Rao, Keerthy Suresh's Raftaar release date
Amazon MGM Studios shared the first poster of Raftaar on its Instagram handle. Starring Rajkummar and Keerthy in lead roles, the movie will hit the big screen on July 24. While sharing the updat eon the gram, the makers wrote, "Ambition built it. Greed will test it. #Raftaar, releasing on July 24, at a theatre near you." Take a look:
Apart from Rajkummar and Keerthy, Raftaar's supporting star cast includes Anurag Thakur, Rohan Verma, Rajat Kapoor and Tanya Maniktala. Tarun Bali serves as the executive producer of the movie, while Rohan Narula has worked on the screenplay.
What is Raftaar all about?
The makers of Raftaar have described that the film is set in a high-stakes world where success comes to a price and ambition builds empires. The movie's official synopsis reads, "At its heart lies a fast-rising start-up and a charged relationship between a driven man and an equally ambitious woman."
Before the movie was announced, a source told Mid-Day that Rajkummar and Keerthy's movie is a satirical take on today's money-making education system. The report suggested that Raftaar humorously highlights how the field of education is all about business and profits rather than imparting knowledge and building the future of country.
Rajkummar Rao's work front
On the work front, Rajkummar has couple of projects lined up. The actor will be seen in Toaster with Sanya Malhotra. Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, the movie will premiere on Netflix. It follows the story of a man who becomes obsessed with a toaster he gifted to a newly wed couple.
Other than that, the Bollywood actor is said to be working on public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam's biopic. Interestingly, he is rumoured to be doing former Indian Cricketer Saurav Ganguly's biopic. Official announcements of both movies are awaited.
