What is the story about?
Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan came together to tell the story of Murlikant Petkar in 2024 with Chandu Champion. Two years later, they reunited for yet another
important movie. Titled Ladaku, it is said to be a heart-tugging and inspiring film. The makers of the movie locked its theatrical release date. Ladaku releases worldwide days before Chandu Champion's third release anniversary. The date locked is June 18, 2027. As per the makers, Ladaku narrates an extraordinary real-life story of ambition, grit and hope.
All about Ladaku
Inspired by an extraordinary real-life story, Kabir’s Ladaku will see Kartik playing a kickboxing coach who helps shape the journey of a young girl from Kashmir. The story is understood to draw inspiration from the life of Tajamul Islam, the young Kashmiri athlete who rose to international prominence as a kickboxing champion.
Ladaku is produced by Birla Studios, Kabir Khan Entertainment. It also marks the debut of Kartik as a producer with Dopamine Studios. As per sources, Kartik was drawn to the project from the moment he heard the story. Hence, he was determined to back the film through his newly launched Dopamine Studios.
Reportedly, Kartik has also undergone kickboxing training for the role. The film has been shot across Mumbai and Kashmir. The cast of the upcoming biopic is expected to be announced soon.
Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan reunite
Ladaku marks Kartik and Kabir’s second collaboration after the 2024 biographical sports drama Chandu Champion, based on the life of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, for which the former recently won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards.
After winning the National Award, Kartik celebrated with Kabir and the team of Ladaku. Khan wrote on Instagram, " On the 18th July 2022 Kartik, Sajid and I announced #ChanduChampion … and the next two years was the most fabulous journey together. We made a film that we will always be very proud of. And exactly 4 years later to the day after our announcement came another announcement that brought the journey full circle - Kartik got the NATIONAL AWARD for Best Actor for CHANDU CHAMPION. Ye sahi mein Chandu nahin Champion hai. Aur is khushi mein ek nahi do Rasmalai toh banti hai (sic)."
Kartik Aaryan's upcoming films
Besides Ladaku, Kartik has multiple releases in 2027. The actor will be seen with Sreeleela in Anurag Basu’s upcoming romantic drama. He is currently shooting for Captain India with Parvathy. Kartik has wrapped the shoot of Naagzilla, which is releasing on February 12, 2027. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 is also in the making.
Kartik’s last film was Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri with Ananya Panday in 2025. The film was directed by Sameer Vidwans.
