What is the story about?
India might just be around the corner for BTS. In one of the biggest teases ever, the world's biggest pop band right now is seemingly slowly and steadily
making its way to the country, and desi ARMY cannot keep calm. More so when they hear the septet speaking in Hindi and saying a "Namaste" in their own Korean accent. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook performing in India has been a long-held dream for the fans on this side, and more recently, several things are unfolding that might lead to their arrival soon. After their agency, HYBE, opened a Mumbai office, the three members are now teasing Indian ARMY in a way nobody expected.
BTS sends love to Indian fans and says 'namaste'
On August 21, fans were in for a shock when BTS appeared in an Instagram reel where they are acknowledging the love of India and how they are equally awaiting the day they hold a concert here. The Google ad begins with a "namaste", and then Jin makes a surprise utterance by speaking "Kaise hain aap sab? Humne aapko miss kiya! (How are all of you? We missed you)" The catch here was that Jin was actually speaking in clear Hindi, which left the netizens having a meltdown.
Demand to try East Indian Thali
RM, Suga, J-Hope, and V then speak on how they are aware of the massive fanbase in India and their dream of visiting the country someday. J-Hope then wonders about the places they must visit if they actually land in India. RM then goes on to mention the "East Indian Thali," which they wish to try from Indian dishes.
There is no official confirmation from BTS or BIGHIT Music as of now that the K-pop supergroup is announcing an India concert or tour date anytime soon. So this India-visit theory is more of fan interpretation than an announced confirmation.
Desi ARMY has a meltdown
ARMY has a reputation for going through BTS promotional material with a fine-tooth comb, and the new video is no different. So including India might not be a far-fetched dream. Fans have blown up social media with reactions ever since BTS teased them. Indian users on X (formerly Twitter) reacted with excitement and a plea towards HYBE to actually make it happen.
One Indian ARMY wrote, "Whateverrrr maybeee the cityyy, but theyyy are coming to INDIAAAAAAA...omggg omgggg but I hope they add more cities rather than mumbaii." Another one screamed, "So they are coming to India and they selected Mumbai for their tour spots, and this is the only meaning i can get it." A third one added, "For someone who loves them since 2017.....this looks like a dream come true."
Why is the video gaining steam?
The clip is significant because BTS is currently undertaking its ARIRANG World Tour, a massive global project. The prospect is especially significant for Indian ARMYs, as the group has a massive fan base in India but has yet to hold a full-fledged BTS concert in the country. So any confirmed news of an India stop would be a huge moment for the country's K-pop community.
The speculation also comes at a particularly exciting time for BTS. The group has been promoting ARIRANG and doing a big world tour after their comeback as a full group. The tour has been positioned as one of the group's biggest international activities.
