What is the story about?
With just days left for the release of Alpha, anticipation surrounding the YRF Spy Universe film is at an all-time high. Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari
in the lead, the action thriller has generated significant buzz (both good and bad) thanks to its action-packed trailer, its place within the popular spy universe and the promise of introducing a new female-led chapter to the franchise. Ahead of the release, reports suggest that Yash Raj Films has shared a detailed exhibition strategy with theatre owners, outlining show timings, ticket pricing and screen allocation plans for Alpha.
No Early Morning Shows For Alpha
According to reports in Bollywood Hungama, Yash Raj Films has instructed exhibitors to begin Alpha screenings from 9:30 am onwards. The studio has reportedly requested theatres not to schedule early morning shows before this timing. The decision appears to be a calculated release strategy, allowing the film to maintain premium show timings throughout the day. Theatres have also reportedly been asked to open advance bookings from Wednesday, July 1.
Another notable request reportedly concerns ticket pricing. Exhibitors have allegedly been asked to keep Alpha ticket prices at par with the weekend pricing of Welcome To The Jungle, which released last week. Reports suggest that YRF has laid down minimum show requirements for various cinema formats.
According to the reported guidelines:
- Two-screen cinemas should allot a minimum of four shows.
- Three-screen properties should provide at least six shows.
- Four-screen multiplexes are expected to schedule eight shows.
- Multiplexes with ten or more screens should allocate a minimum of ten shows.
For single-screen cinemas, the allocation reportedly will be decided individually by the YRF distribution team based on local market conditions.
More about Alpha
Apart from exhibition plans, Alpha has also completed its certification process. The film has reportedly received a UA 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The action thriller has locked a runtime of 140 minutes, making it a two-hour and twenty-minute cinematic experience. Apart from Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, Alpha also features Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in important roles.
The CBFC details have also revealed the film's official plot summary, giving more information about Alia Bhatt's character. The synopsis describes a young woman driven by revenge who destroys anyone standing in her path before uncovering hidden truths about her own life. The character is portrayed as fearless, emotionally detached, and willing to cross moral boundaries to achieve her objectives. The role is expected to establish Alia Bhatt's character, Sita, as a major addition to the YRF Spy Universe alongside established agents Pathaan, Tiger and Kabir.
Alpha is releasing on July 3 in theatres.
