shared that the upcoming mythological epic will be the first film his and Alia Bhatt's daughter, Raha Kapoor, watches on the big screen, which makes the project special for him. Ranbir revealed the emotional moment at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, where the cast and creators of Ramayana, including co-star Yash, director Nitesh Tiwari, and producer Namit Malhotra, also revealed new details about the ambitious two-part adaptation. The Bollywood mega outing is set for a Diwali 2026 release.
Raha's first theatre experience
During a Q&A session with fans at Comic-Con, one of the audience members said, "I want my children to know Ramayana so that they know more about our Indian mythology and cultural heritage." To this, Ranbir added that he was looking forward to doing just that with his daughter Raha in response to the comment.
The actor said he was excited to take his 3-year-old to watch the film. It would be her very first theatrical movie experience, the actor added. "I'm very excited to take my daughter to the film. It is going to be her first film on the big screen," RK shared.
The comment received a lot of applause from the fans, many of whom are aware of the importance the project has for the actor personally in addition to its scale as a film.
Ranbir's dream project
Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's remake of the ancient Indian epic. The film has generated a lot of buzz ever since it was announced and features a star-studded cast with Sai Pallavi playing Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, along with Ravie Dubey, Rakut Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi, and others in pivotal roles.
Touted as one of the biggest Indian films ever made, the team has worked out a worldwide release strategy and extensive visual effects work.
Ramayana trailer postponed
However, amid mounting excitement, the much-anticipated trailer of Ramayana got postponed on July 24, leaving fans waiting a little more to watch a deeper glimpse into the movie. The decision came after Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that it will join the project as its international distribution partner, producer Namit Malhotra said in an official statement.
The partnership would put Ramayana in front of audiences around the world on the scale of a big Hollywood production, he said.
