The counting for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections began at 8 AM. Vijay fans have their eyes on Perambur and Tiruchirappalli (East). In Perambur, early reports reveal that the Jana Nayagan actor has taken the lead. Ahead of the election results, Vijay's father, S. A. Chandrasekhar, visited Thiruthani Murugan Temple to offer prayers. The 2026 Tamil Nadu elections mark the on-screen idol’s foray into politics.

In a video, Vijay’s father could be seen offering prayers at the temple and praying for his success in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He is a renowned filmmaker in the Tamil film industry.

Days before the vote counting, Vijay sought blessings at the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple in Toothukudi district in Tamil Nadu. The actor-turned-politician also visited the Shirdi Sai Baba shrine while he awaited the election results and the official release date of Jana Nayagan.
On April 23, Vijay cast his vote at a polling station in Neelankarai, Chennai. He residing in the Casuarina Drive locality. Besides contesting the elections, the actor urged fans to vote and not miss the opportunity. As he arrived, fans rushed to catch his glimpse. After casting his vote, Thalapathy headed back to his car.
About Vijay's political party
Under Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) manifesto, Vijay aims for ‘Annapoorani Super Six, and focus on women’s empowerment, youth employment, and economic relief. Before his entry, the Tamil Nadu political landscape was dominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). If Vijay wins, it could start a new era of politics in the state.
Vijay's net worth
Prior to the elections, Vijay declared his assets as part of his nomination. In his official affidavit, the actor-turned-politician disclosed his wealth, investments, movable and immovable assets along with the financial portfolio of his family members, including estranged wife Sangeeta Sornalingam, son Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Saasha.
According to the details submitted in the nomination affidavit, Vijay's total worth is Rs 404.58 crore. Tamil publications cited the declaration and revealed that his income for 2024–25 is Rs 184 crore. Cash in hand is Rs 2 lakh, whereas bank balance is Rs 320 crore. Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha have around Rs 4 lakhs total in their accounts. Sangeetha’s bank balance is said to be Rs 10.43 crore.
As of now, Vijay’s party is trending well. It will be interesting to see how Tamil Nadu politics changes after the superstar’s entry.
