What is the story about?
Bhumi Pednekar made a solid critical comeback with Suresh Triveni-created Daldal on Prime Video. Prior to the crime thriller series, the actress’ choices
were questioned and mocked on social media. Now, in an exclusive interview with Zoom, Daldal’s showrunner, Suresh, defended Bhumi and slammed the trolls for choosing negativity over compassion. The filmmaker, who is currently enjoying the success of Subedaar starring Anil Kapoor, Radhika Madan and others, looked at the time when social media was all about sharing kindness, stories and joyous insights of each other’s lives. Suresh praised Bhumi for taking risks on her own and making her mark in the industry with films like Sonchiriya.
Suresh Triveni on social media shift
Talking to Zoom exclusively, Suresh said, “When Tumhari Sulu released, social media was there, and even I was on Instagram and other platforms. I felt it was not so toxic. I found it far more welcoming, and it brought a beautiful word into our lives, called ‘share’, which was not there. Share is such a beautiful word. Now, what is happening with ‘share’ is that people are looking at it as clickbait. With followers and views coming into the picture, they are constantly seeking attention. There are two things here – one is positivity, and the other is negativity. Most people are not happy, maybe with their lives or whatever. They take certain pleasure in getting into trolls, and they spread negativity.”

Suresh further shared that trolls should never be taken seriously. Agreeing that he has come across memes and trolls criticising Bhumi’s recent choices. “All the best to them. You can keep sharing whatever you want to; that will not turn her bitter. An actor of this calibre, Bhumi Pednekar, who has acted in Sonchiriya and Dum Laga Ke Haisha. She has gone ahead making her own choices. She has a far bigger win than these trolls,” he added.
Suresh and Bhumi are unbothered by the trolling. Instead, the filmmaker suggests that people revisit ‘Rajkumar Hirani’s films and say All Is Well and move on.’
Bhumi Pednekar on taking a break from acting
Bhumi, who was promoting Daldal earlier this year, revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India that she took a break from acting in 2025 and hasn’t been on a set since June last year. The break was to process the constructive criticism she received for The Royals, a Netflix show co-starring Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar and others.
