Awarapan 2 OTT Release: Where and When to Watch
After its theatrical run, Awarapan 2 released on Prime Video on October 9, 2026. The movie is available to stream on the platform in India and other countries. Viewers get to see Emraan Hashmi recreate one of his fan-favourite characters from the franchise.
It is the sequel to the original Awarapan, which was released in 2007 and was directed by Mohit Suri. The first film may not have done well at the box office but has since acquired cult status. The sorrowful tale, memorable dialogues and heartfelt music continue to strike a chord with fans.
What is Awarapan 2 about?
The sequel continues the story of Shivam Pandit, who is still haunted by the choices and losses that formed his past. After leaving the criminal world behind, he lives in a distant village in Rajasthan, mourning over the grave of his beloved and trying to understand the purpose of life. An unexpected bond offers him a chance to rediscover hope and consider a different future. But his attempt to outrun a violent past is destroyed when he is caught up in a cartel fight in Bangkok.
Betrayal, violence and the opportunity of love complicate Shivam's journey as he finds himself accountable for those who have become significant to him. He must face the repercussions of his past choices and determine what he is prepared to fight for.
The original version depicted the transition of Shivam from a cold-blooded assassin to a pathetic creature when he fell in love with Reema, a woman imprisoned by gangster Malik. For him personally, it was awful to help her escape. The sequel explores his emotional journey further, while also adding a new conflict.
Awarapan 2 cast and music
The film also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Vijayant Kohli and Suvinder Vicky in lead roles along with Hashmi. The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and is produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films label.
Music remains an important part of the franchise’s identity. Mithoon and Sayeed Quadri have contributed to the film’s music, following the lasting popularity of the original Awarapan soundtrack.
The music of the first movie, especially the dramatic numbers, became synonymous with Shivam's anguish and inner torment. The sequel capitalises on that melodic nostalgia, but takes the story of the character further through action, romance and drama.
Emraan Hashmi will next be seen in Gunmaaster G9, directed by Aditya Datt, after Awarapan 2. The action-romance drama also stars Genelia D’Souza and Aparshakti Khurana and will be out in theatres on November 27, 2026.
